From HKU SPACE to Manchester and a Career in the UK
The first step to practicing law in the UK.
"After starting my studies at HKU SPACE on the Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law, I took the opportunity to transfer to Manchester for Year 2 as the first step to relocating and practicing law in the United Kingdom after graduating.
The pro-bono projects and other networking opportunities are invaluable in Manchester. I have been able to do two pro-bono projects organized by Manchester Law School, Commercial Law Clinic and Greater Manchester Law Centre, as well as a third student-led pro-bono project with Manchester Community Consultancy. These are a great way for students to explore their interests and develop extra skills along with their legal studies.
I also had the chance to participate in an internal mooting competition. I was one of the semi-finalists of the competition, I learnt a lot about the trial process and even had a chance to visit the UK Supreme Court together with the finalists.
I’ve attended law fairs and networking events to understand the UK legal industry and am now more familiar with the UK legal market. So I’m confident I’ll be able to enter the legal industry after graduation.
Two years ago, I could never have expected that I would learn and achieve so much through this course. Studying this Graduate Diploma in Law is the cornerstone of my legal dream."
