Programme Details
The Hong Kong Investor Relations Association (HKIRA)HKIRA is a professional association comprising investor relations practitioners and corporate officers responsible for communications between corporate management and the investment community. Investor relations are the communication of the relevant and necessary information by which the investment community can consistently make an informed judgement about the fair value of a company's shares and securities. HKIRA advocates the setting of international standards in investor relations education, advances the best investor relations practices and meets the professional development needs of those interested in pursuing the investor relations profession. |
HKIRA will offer a one-year HKIRA associate membership to graduates who have successfully completed this programme. (For new member only)
Each module will be assessed by individual written assignments (100%). All assessments will be in English.
Executive Certificate in Investor Relations will be awarded to candidates who have achieved at least 70% attendance as well as attain pass grades in each module of the programme.
Lecturers
Dr. Eva Chan (Chairman of HKIRA)
Dr. Chan is the Head of Investor Relations of C C Land Holdings Limited. (stock code : 1224). She has more than 25 years of experience and was the CFOs and company secretaries of various listed companies in Hong Kong. She is mainly responsible for formulating the IRstrategies for the company and conducting meetings with investors and fund managers all over the world. She also leads in a number of corporate finance exercises and corporate restructuring activities.
Dr. Chan is an Independent Non-Executive Director of New Environmental Energy Holdings Limited (stock code: 3989) and is appointed as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Accounting and Finance of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is the Chairman of Hong Kong Investor Relations Association.
Dr. Chan graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. She then earned her MBA degree from the University of Nottingham. She also obtained a DBA degree from the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong. She is a fellow member of the HKICS, a fellow member of HKICPA and a fellow member of the ACCA.
Mr. Randy Hung (Vice-Chairman of HKIRA)
Mr. Randy Hung has served as an executive director, independent non-executive director, and senior management of listed companies for more than 20 years. Mr. Randy Hung is currently the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Investor Relations Association, and the Chairman of Training Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
Mr. Hung is a fellow certified public accountant of Hong Kong, and a licensed certified public accountant of the State of California in the USA. He holds a MBA degree from the University of London, a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a certificate of programming and data processing from the University of Southern California, a certificate of China Accounting, Finance, Taxation and Law from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Hong Kong Securities Institute Specialist Certificate in corporate finance.
Mr. Eric Poon
Eric Poon started his career in the private equity and asset management industry 27 years ago. He specialized in managing investor relations teams globally, and support global investors to invest in ‘’tough-to-access’’ private and public companies. He has the privilege of building his experience and track record working for Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, BlackRock, Barings, Value Partners, UBP, and All-Stars (leading new economy / techn PE and Hedge Fund) having based in New York (US), Vancouver (Canada) and Asia in more than a quarter of the century.
Eric has served as a Panel Member & Industry Expert for the HKU Space’s Institute of China Business as part of his devotion to education. He has been conducting lectures / sharing at the HKUST, VCT and other educational institutes in the region around the areas of investments, family offices, technologies and ESG. As well, he has been featured as a speaker at the HK Investor Relations Association, Harvard Business School (HBS) Alumni Association (HK), CFA Institute, HK FinTech Week, and the Association of Family Offices in Asia.
Eric was serving the United Nations (UN) as a Strategic Advisor. He has been an Advisor to Forbes (FGA) and Eric has been the Executive Vice Chairperson of the Association of Family Offices in Asia. He has been an officer (and ex-Treasurer) of the Harvard Business School (HBS) Alumni Association in HK for more than 10 years. As well, he was an executive board committee of the HK Investment Funds Association as he was amongst the leaders to drive the fund management industry. Eric has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Treasurer (ex-Vice Chair) of CIM HK. He also dedicated himself in education being the Board Advisor of the University of British Columbia (UBC)’s VSE CC. With passions in tech, Eric has been a member of the Global Blockchain Business Council.
He has been a committee of the HK Venture Capital Association (HKVCA) and Cyberport Investor Network. He also co-represented the Association of Family Offices in Asia (AFO) to take part at the board sub-comm of the HK Financial Services Development Council (HK FSDC). He has been a Board Advisor of the JC Foundation. Eric was the Co-Chair of the Environmental & Sustainability committee of the Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CdnIS). He has been a HK Senior PGA, and being nominated as the Golf Sub-Committee of Craigengower Cricket Club (CCC). Dedicated to entrepreneurship, Eric has been the Vice Chair (Advisory Board) of the Entrepreneurial Leaders Organization (ELO).
Eric graduated with an Economics degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, and he obtained his M.B.A. degree from the University of Houston in Victoria, Texas where he was the Class President of his cohort. He completed senior executive course at Harvard & Tsinghua Universities.
He continues to dedicate himself to build an effective bridge across the East & the West, the entrepreneurs & the capital as well as provide strategic advises in the areas of technologies, ESG, healthcare, consumptions, investments and education which will impact future generations.

Modules
Module 1: Theory and Practice of Investor Relations
The module aims to provide executives with a framework for investor relations activities that maps the investor relations process and practical tools in designing, implementing and evaluating investor relations strategy. Areas of focus include principles of investor relations, communications and disclosure, annual report analysis, due diligence and challenges of implementing investor relations
Module 2: Finance Essentials for Investor Relations
The module aims to provide students with essential knowledge and applications of finance and investment in investor relations. Areas of focus include global capital markets, accounting essentials, financial reporting, corporate finance, valuation models, risk management and behavioral finance.
Module 3: Corporate Governance and Ethics in Investor Relations
The module aims to provide students with fundamentals of corporate governance and ethical dimensions of the investor relations function and knowledge of the legal aspects governing the practice of investor relations. Areas of focus include principles of corporate governance, the role of different stakeholders in corporate governance, disciplinary function of mergers and acquisitions, legal requirements for structured disclosure, securities regulations, and social responsibility.

Entry Requirements
Applicants shall:
(i.) hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized institution or equivalent; or
(ii.) hold an Associate Degree / a Higher Diploma awarded by a recognized institution or equivalent and have 2 years work experience.
Applicants with other qualifications will be considered on individual merits.

Enrolment Method- Complete the application form.
- Submit the application form with the following documents:
(a) CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of all relevant academic and/or professional qualifications (please also bring along the originals of these documents for certification at HKU SPACE enrollment center);
(b) CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of HKID card / passport and visa (if applicable);
(c) a non-refundable application fee of HK$150 by crossed cheque made payable to “HKU SPACE”; and
(d) a separate crossed cheque / bank draft payable to “HKU SPACE” for HK$7,800 in respect of the course fee.
The complete set of application forms with all relevant supporting documents may be submitted in person to any HKU SPACE enrollment centers.

1. CASH OR EPS
Cash or EPS are accepted at any HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres.
2. CHEQUE OR BANK DRAFT
Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please write the programme title(s) and the applicant’s name on the back of the cheque. You may either:
- in person by submitting the payment, completed form(s), and required supporting documents to any of our enrolment centres; or
- by mailing the above documents to any of our enrolment centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope.
3. VISA/MASTERCARD
Course applicants, who are holders of HKU SPACE MasterCard, can enjoy a 10-month interest-free instalment period for courses of HK$2,000 and over. For enquiries, please contact our enrolment centres.
4. ONLINE PAYMENT
Online payment for short courses (first come, first served) and selected award-bearing programmes is available using PPS, VISA or MasterCard. Please refer to the Online Services page on the School website.
Notes
- For general and short courses, applicants may be required to pay the course fee in cash or by EPS, Visa or MasterCard if the course is to start shortly.
- Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, cheque or online PPS will be reimbursed by a cheque; fees paid by credit card will be reimbursed to credit card account used for payment.
- In addition to the published fees, there may be additional costs associated with individual programmes. Please refer to the relevant course brochures or direct any enquiries to the relevant programme teams for details.
- Fees and places on courses are not transferrable. Once accepted onto a course, the student may not change to another course without approval from HKU SPACE. A processing fee of HK$120 will be levied on each approved transfer.
- HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment, receipt, or personal information sent by mail.
- For additional copies of receipts, please aubmit a completed form, a sufficiently stamped and self-addressed envelope, and a crossed cheque for HK$30 per copy made payable to ‘HKU SPACE’ to any of our enrolment centres. Such copies will normally be issued at the end of a course.
- Classes are expected to be held at HKU SPACE learning centers. The health and safety of our students is our top priority. If the situation in Hong Kong requires, HKU SPACE reserves the right to move some classes to other locations, including online teaching platforms.
