Asia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage resources deserve a much higher attention and care from our societies. Although the protection and conservation of these resources are gaining respects, they are still under threat from rapid development and insensitive tourism etc. Better management of cultural heritage resources and relevant heritage education is being seen as vital for its successful protection.
The concept of Cultural Heritage has expanded beyond the conventional limit of historic monumental architecture and artefacts, but to embrace intangible aspects and local community. A holistic and sustainable approach is now regarded as critical in managing cultural heritage resources.
Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management programmes developed by HKU SPACE take a broad embracing view of cultural heritage management and systematically explore current and emerging issues of Asia.
In view of the quality tree management policy of the HKSAR Government and the increasing social awareness of tree conservation in parallel, this programme is to respond to the urgent demand for professional training for personnel engaging in tree management and conservation work. Employees in the fields or organizations such as landscape architecture, surveying, property management, contractor works, government administrative departments and public organizations relating tree management and conservation would be directly benefited by taking this programme.
