In Chinese folk tradition, there is a custom of avoiding plain water postpartum and instead drinking “tea” as a substitute. In Hong Kong, roasted rice tea is the most commonly chosen beverage for postpartum women. Herbal tea drinks, based on the concept of food and medicine homology, utilize common Chinese herbs to create beverages such as Three-Date Tea and Hawthorn-Astragalus Drink. These can specifically improve the quality of postpartum confinement and accelerate physical recovery after childbirth. Through a combination of theoretical explanation and hands-on demonstration, this course enables participants to master the technique of making roasted rice tea and provide tea beverage recommendations for new mothers.
