What Japanese goods and services could be purchased in Hong Kong over a century ago? Through the advertisements published in Chinese and English newspapers in Hong Kong a century ago, the spekaers will try to examine the early circulation of Japanese goods in Hong Kong and trace the trade relations and cultural contacts between Hong Kong and Japan from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. These old advertisements are rare to come by today, but they still make for an interesting read.
