Harmonies of Spring: A Celebration of Love

As spring blossomed in all its glory, the School Concert "The Joys of Spring” took place at the College Theatre in the Lee Shiu Building of the HKU SPACE Community College on 28 April 2026. This enduring tradition once again brought together the School’s students, alumni, donors, staff and friends. Through enchanting melodies and vibrant rhythms, they nurtured camaraderie and shared their love for the performing arts.

The concert drew an eager response, bringing in over 260 attendees. The theatre buzzed with energy as the programme unfolded, showcasing a delightful mix of performances. The stage debut commenced with students from the Community College, whose melodious voices filled the air with the warmth and vibrancy of spring, perfectly encapsulating the concert’s theme. Following this, teacher Alan Chu, accompanied by violinist Amelia Chan and cellist Juanita Wong, delivered an exquisite chamber music recital. The piano's crisp tones, the violin's melodious strains, and the cello's rich resonance intertwined harmoniously, creating a multi-layered musical ambiance that left a lasting impact on the audience.

Dr William Au Weng-hei, SBS, JP, Honorary Fellow of the School and President of the HKU SPACE ALUMNI, alongside Honorary Fellows Ms Esther Wong and Professor Enoch Young, took the stage next. Their heartfelt rendition of classic hits resonated deeply with the audience, showcasing the alumni’s enduring affection for the School and their commitment to giving back. The concert reached a crescendo with a mesmerising performance by street dance instructor Lokin and his dance troupe, who infused the atmosphere with pulsating beats and dynamic choreography, closing the musical extravaganza to resounding cheers and applause.

The concert's triumph was owed to the exceptional performances of all students, alumni, teacher and guests. Beyond being an artistic delight, this event served as a significant fundraiser; all proceeds were dedicated to the School’s scholarship and financial aid fund, supporting full-time students in financial need as they pursue their academic and personal aspirations unimpeded by financial constraints. The School would like to express profound appreciation to Dr William Au and all sponsors. Dr Au's steadfast support and ongoing sponsorship of this event for eleven consecutive years stand as a beacon of dedication to education, inspiring future generations. We eagerly anticipate coming together once more next spring to harmonise in kindness and beauty.
