Highlights

Acupuncture as a major branch of Chinese Medicine (CM) is a recognized therapeutic modality approved by the World Health Organization (W.H.O.). The programme provides Western-trained medical practitioners and medical-related professionals interested in acupuncture with an opportunity to undertaken acupuncture training.

This programme consists of two parts. Each part consists of one module. Students who have completed one module of Part 1 can choose to exit the programme. Completion of one module will lead to a Certificate in Acupuncture. Upon successful completion of Part 1 and Part 2, students will be awarded a Diploma in Clinical Acupuncture.

The development of a universal or standard system of acupuncture nomenclature under the auspices of the W.H.O. has facilitated the interationalization of acupuncture practice.  Increasingly, many western medical practitioners worldwide have adopted acupuncture as an adjunct to their primary therapeutic modality based on the western medical paradigm.

In line with this development, formal acupuncture education at the undergraduate and graduate levels has been established in universities.  Acupuncture has now matured to acquire a proper position in healthcare professions, with a set of defined technical terminologies and well-establised standard of practice.
