Dr Ambrose So Shu Fai
Dr So is both a renowned businessman and a distinguished calligrapher. In both contexts his interests span Hong Kong, Macau, China and Portugal. He has held various solo calligraphy exhibitions, and his calligraphy has been collected by many notable museums and galleries. He has served on the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and is presently the Honorary Consul of Portugal in Hong Kong. As the Vice-chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SJM Holdings Limited, he has a strong business record. Dedicated to promoting lifelong learning, he founded the Macau Millennium College, catering to the needs of employees in the gaming and hospitality industry. He was a founding director of the HKU Foundation and has been active in supporting HKUSPACE via the Alumni Council - especially in the 60th Anniversary Celebrations. He graduated from HKU, and holds a doctorate from Southern Cross University. He was made an Honorary University Fellow of HKU in 2005 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Macau in 2012. He received the Medal of Merit – Culture from the Macau SAR Government in 2009, and was conferred as Comendador da Ordem do Mérito by the Portuguese Government in 2014. The School honours him for his support of lifelong learning and his contributions to business, to arts and culture, as well as to HKUSPACE.
